Amendment 3 Allows Our Underage Daughters to Get Abortions
Amendment 3 claims to protect reproductive freedom, but hidden within its language is a dangerous loophole that removes parental rights. By failing to specify an age limit, the amendment allows anyone—regardless of age—to get an abortion. This includes minors, our underage daughters, who will now be able to make the life-altering decision to get an abortion without having to get consent or even notify their parents. If you want to keep your daughter and underage girls protected, you need to vote No on Amendment 3.
No Parental Consent, No Notification
Under Amendment 3, the term “person” is used deliberately, creating ambiguity around the age of those seeking abortions. This opens the door for minors to obtain abortions without the involvement of their parents. Parental notification and consent laws exist to protect vulnerable young girls from making such serious medical decisions on their own, ensuring their health and safety are prioritized. If Amendment 3 passes, these safeguards will be completely dismantled and girls as young as 11 or 12 will be getting abortions without their parents even knowing.
Why It Matters
As parents, we have a responsibility to protect our daughters from harm, especially when it comes to making serious health decisions that will affect their long-term well-being. Amendment 3 strips away our rights to be involved in life-changing decisions, leaving young girls to make serious medical choices without proper support from their parents. Without the guidance of their families, minors may be vulnerable to coercion, manipulation, and unsafe practices. Minors can’t even drive without parental consent, how are we supposed to be okay with letting them make permanent health decisions on their own?
Amendment 3 Poses A Serious Threat To Missouri
Amendment 3 doesn’t just impact parental rights—it introduces a host of other dangerous changes that will harm women, children, and babies across our state. From removing essential safety regulations to allowing abortions in the 7th, 8th, and 9th month under vague definitions of “health,” the consequences are far-reaching. It’s crucial to understand all the risks this amendment poses. Take action and get informed on the full scope of Amendment 3. Protect Missouri by learning more about the serious issues at stake, and vote No on Amendment 3 on November 5th!
