Amendment 3: A Threat to Babies Who Deserve a Chance

Amendment 3 would allow abortions even in the final months of pregnancy, when babies are fully developed and capable of surviving outside the womb. These fully-formed babies, who could thrive with medical care, are put at risk under this amendment’s vague “health” exceptions, which could allow abortions as late as the 9th month. These babies deserve a chance. These babies need you to vote No on Amendment 3.

Babies Who Could Survive Are In Danger

At 7, 8, and 9 months, these babies aren’t just viable—they’re capable for life. Thanks to medical advancements, babies born as early as 24 weeks can survive. But Amendment 3 legalizes abortions throughout all nine months, justifying them for emotional and psychological reasons, not just emergencies.

These babies deserve a chance, not an early death sentence by a cruel and unnecessary procedure.

Late-Term Abortions Are Painful And Cruel

Studies show that babies as young as 20 weeks can feel pain. Under Amendment 3, abortions during the final trimester would be performed on babies who are fully developed and able to survive with medical support. These procedures are not only dangerous for the mother but excruciatingly painful for the baby, enabling inhumane practices in the state we call home.

Why It Matters

Amendment 3 opens the door for extreme late-term abortions, well into the 7th, 8th, and 9th month of pregnancy. These vague health exceptions allow for late-term procedures, not just to save the life of the mother, but for emotional, psychological, and familial concerns, completely subjective reasons for killing innocent children.

Radical amendments like these have already passed in states like Ohio and Minnesota, and similar proposals are spreading across the country this year. According to recent data, 11,160 late-term abortions take place annually in the U.S. If Amendment 3 is approved, this number is expected to surge, further endangering the lives of fully developed babies who could survive outside the womb.

Amendment 3 Poses A Serious Threat To Missouri

Amendment 3 doesn’t just allow for dangerous abortions into the 7th, 8th, and 9th month of pregnancies—it introduces a host of other dangerous changes that will harm women, children, and babies across our state. From removing essential safety regulations and stripping parental rights, letting underage girls get abortions, the consequences are far-reaching.

It’s crucial to understand all the risks this amendment poses. Take action and get informed on the full scope of Amendment 3. Protect Missouri by learning more about the serious issues at stake, and vote No on Amendment 3 on November 5th!
