Amendment 3 Removes Critical Safeguards for Victims of Abuse
Amendment 3 claims to protect reproductive freedom but buried in its language is a dangerous loophole that eliminates the requirement for abortion clinics to report suspected cases of rape, incest, and trafficking. This puts the most vulnerable women and girls in our state at even greater risk of exploitation, which is why it’s crucial to vote No on Amendment 3.
No Reporting, No Protection
Under current Missouri law, abortion clinics are required to report suspected cases of rape, incest, and human trafficking.
These laws exist to protect women and girls from being further victimized by their abusers. If Amendment 3 passes, this crucial requirement will be eliminated; abortion providers will no longer be obligated to report when a victim shows signs of abuse, leaving traffickers and abusers free to exploit their victims without fear of being caught.
Why It Matters
Human traffickers often rely on the secrecy and isolation of their victims to continue their abuse. Without mandatory reporting from abortion clinics, traffickers will have one less obstacle in their way.
Missouri already sees an average of 327 human trafficking victims each year, and this number is projected to absolutely sky-skyrocket in the wake of Amendment 3 passing. While proponents of this dangerous amendment 3 suggest it protects our women and young girls, this couldn’t be further from the truth as it will put our communities in serious risk.
Amendment 3 Poses A Serious Threat To Missouri
Amendment 3 doesn’t just empower sex traffickers by removing essential reporting protocols for women and young girls — it introduces a host of other dangerous changes that will harm women, children, and babies across our state. From stripping parental rights and allowing late-term abortions into the 7th, 8th, and 9th month of pregnancy, the consequences are far-reaching.
It’s crucial to understand all the risks this amendment poses. Take action and get informed on the full scope of Amendment 3. Protect Missouri by learning more about the serious issues at stake, and vote No on Amendment 3 on November 5th!
